Kirsten Malmkjaer
Kirsten Malmkjær read English and Philosophy at Birmingham University before writing a PhD there on translation theory.
At Birmingham, she was director of the MA in Special Applications of Linguistics until 1989, when she went to The University of Cambridge, Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics. Here, she taught until April 1999 when she was appointed to the chair in Translation Studies and Literary Translation at Middlesex University. She has published widely on literary translation and translation studies, and is the editor of Routledge's Linguistics Encyclopedia.
