Dutch Literature Foundation

The Foundation for the Production and Translation of Dutch Literature exists to promote interest in Dutch-language literature abroad. It maintains contacts with a large number of international publishers, and has a stand at major international book fairs, including the Frankfurt Book Fair, the London Book Fair and the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna.

 

English PEN

English PEN is the founding centre of International PEN, a membership association with 144 branches in more than 100 countries, providing an active and supportive community for writers and readers around the world. National Book Centre of Greece (EKEBI)

The English version of the website is currently under construction. The Greek version has databases of translators, translated literature (into and out of Greek), translation events, databases of publishers, libraries and studies of the Greek market, European and international links.

New Books in German

A twice yearly independent journal aiming to promote new titles of books in German to British and American publishers of translated literature. It is jointly run and funded by the Goethe Institute, the Swiss and Austrian Embassies, under the auspices of the BCLT.

 

Palimpsestes
Palimpsestes is a journal devoted to the study of the theoretical and practical problems involved in the process of translation. The journal primarily focuses on the translation from French into English, and English into French. It aims to integrate theory into the practice of translating while reflecting on the concrete problems facing a translator.

 

Poetry Translation Centre

The Poetry Translation Centre website features translations of contemporary poets in a wide variety of languages and online debates about poetry and translation with people from all over the world.

 

Oxford Poetry

A Poetry Magazine published three times a year edited by student writers from Oxford University. Each issue has a theme and contains poetry and prose.


Russian-English Literary Translation
This site features a useful list of literature and fiction from Russia.

 

Slovak Literature Information Centre

Established by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic to provide material and organisational support to literature written in Slovakia, its authors and translators.

 

The Center for Slovenian Literature

Supplies information on contemporary Slovenian literature.  It sponsors translations and translators' visits to literary events and residencies. It supplies translators with books and literary magazines; occasionally, it provides them with grants for translations given by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture.

 

Study Languages

The site campaigns for the study of foreign languages in the places where they are spoken; and it also promotes learning foreign languages online.

 

Transcript 

Transcript is a bi-monthly review of books and writing from around Europe. Its aim is to promote quality literature written in the 'smaller' languages and to give wider circulation to material from small-language literary publications through the medium of English, French and German.

Booktrust, which runs the translated fiction website, is committed to encouraging people of all ages and cultures to discover and enjoy reading.

Three Percent is a resource of international literature at the University of Rochester, New York. The website aims to become a destination for readers, editors, and translators interested in finding out about modern and contemporary international literature.

 

UNESCO Clearing House for Literary Translation

A centre for information, guidance and encounter for all those (translators, publishers, researchers, archivists, teachers) working on the discovery and promotion of still unknown literatures. 

 

University of Pisa

MA in Translation of Post-Colonial Texts in English: Literature, Nonfiction, Theatre and Cinema. The MA is the first of its kind in Italy to be interested in the translation of Post-colonial writers covering different genres of cultural and artistic expression.

 

Virtual Society of Literature

UNESCO, through its Centre for the Exchange of Information on Literary Translation, asked FILI - Finnish Literatue Information Centre - to organise an international seminar, bringing together, as a means of contributing to the action plan for the world summit on the information society, some 50 specialists in order to discuss the possibilities of the internet in the promotion of forms of support and literary translation.

Cyfwe is a website for Welsh literature in translation.

 

Welsh Literature Abroad
Welsh Literature Abroad works to facilitate the translation of Wales' literature. Translation grants are available to publishers.

 

Words Without Borders
Words Without Borders undertakes to promote international communication through translation of the world's best writing - selected and translated by a distinguished group of writers, translators, and publishing professionals - and publishing and promoting these works (or excerpts) on the web. Words Without Borders is hosted by Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

 

Writers in Exile Ink 

Writers in Exile Ink provides a platform for the work of artists living in exile in the UK and mainland Europe through performance, publishing and training activities.
